From 1 September onwards, Saint John's International School in Bruges will be led by Mario Lecluyze (54) for the next four years. Lecluyze has been a teacher of English in secondary schools and a lecturer at university college VIVES Torhout. He currently works as an educational adviser for English and CLIL for the umbrella organisation Katholiek Onderwijs Vlaanderen and was a member of the English Curriculum Commission for the first stage of secondary education.
Lecluyze will be the first Belgian to lead the school. Up till now the school has always been run by a British principal. The board of governors deny that choosing a Belgian has anything to do with a possible hard Brexit.
