It has appeared that Minecraft, a beloved sandbox video game created by Swedish game developer Markus Persson and released by Mojang in 2011, will be shutting down all servers by March 2020. Why you might ask? Well, tune in to find out.
Microsoft, who has owned Minecraft for quite some time now, is running low on their budget. Even though Minecraft is a huge titan in the video game industry, it has occurred to Microsoft that Minecraft is bringing in little to no amounts of money to them, and it is very expensive to hold the servers for Minecraft.
"We believe that shutting down Minecraft will help us with our financial situation right now..." says Bobby Bruh, a representative of Microsoft at E3. Never fear, however, because Minecraft Dungeons will still be coming out. "Yes, we're still doing Minecraft Dungeons. We hope the community understands what we are going through right now..." says Jakob Leeds, a member of the Microsoft Head Design team.
For now, may salute Minecraft for being one of the many games to touch our hearts. We hope what comes in store next will be a great surprise!
