Many people consider stock photos as an easy and convenient way to get the pictures they need for a project, selling at cheap rates and getting rid of the need to hire photographers. But that might all come to a close soon. Alamy stock photo photographer, Elanie Brock, claims "I only make a few cents or so for each photo I take. For someone who puts a lot of work into what I do, that's just not sustainable for my daily life." As Brock states, people who once put their life in the hands of these big stock photo companies are now leaving, to get different jobs in the realm of photography. When these companies buy photos at such low rates and sell them for big money, they lose good photographers. And that's starting to show. As of 2019, Shutterstock has lost 9.64 of its profits to smaller photo shoot companies. And this rate will only increase as time goes on, because villains always lose.
