Beyoncé to start tour of Africa with visit to Ghanaian high school

American multiple Grammy-winning superstar Beyoncé Knowles has revealed her plans to tour West Africa, particularly Ghana and Nigeria this fall.

This initiative spawns off her desire to “give back to the motherland Africa” as she explains in her own words.

The tour is dubbed “The Lion King Tour” and includes major West African countries such as Ghana, Nigeria and Sierra Leone. Her husband, Shawn Carter, popularly known as Jay-Z will join her on the tour.

The “Lion King” album hitmaker has not yet revealed exactly when the tour will start, but she expects it to come off in September.

“We [Beyoncé and Jay-Z] really want to give back to the motherland Africa by connecting with the young people out there and touching lives as closely as we can...” she said in an interview with TMZ Live.

She did not reveal a lot of details but she however revealed Ghana will be her first stop and.

She will visit the Cape Coast Castle and other major tourist sites in Accra as well as surrounding high schools in those cities.

These include Holy Child School and Achimota School, one of the top high schools in the small West African state.

Several top celebrities like Samuel L. Jackson have made similar visits to impoverished African countries as part of 2019 being the Year of Return.
