In a recent interview with Spotify’s CEO Daniel Ek he revealed Spotify will soon start charging listeners to listen to certain artists that aren’t under contract with Spotify. “ The idea is to encourage our members to listen to the artists we here at Spotify support and favor.” Users of Spotify will still be able to listen to other artists if they buy the artists songs or buy the “Emerald premium” extension to their already existent Premium membership. Songs are estimated to be priced at .99 cents while the Emerald premium membership will run an extra 10 dollars a month on top of your pre-existing Premium membership
