CEO of Netflix 'Reed Hastings', confirmed on Twitter saying, "we uphold to a standard that Netflix is home to quality shows and story's, cinematic experiences, documentary's, short films, hollywood hits, etc. and Netflix has no room for "unpopular" shows."
This struck fans of the OA and Brit Marling with a heavy hit as well as cast members that played the gang of teenagers in the series, the teacher "BBA", "Homer", and "Hap". All the actors and even Ellen is a huge advocate and supporter for the OA, and well everyone is saddened to hear the news.
Not only will Netflix close their contract with Brit Marling to keep the show on Netflix but season 3 was confirmed "made and being edited in their studio". According to Brit Marling the cancellation of the show was part of the next season's script. But now unfortunately, cancellation is much more serious and truthful.
Netflix lastly has been leaked, the information being a situation from their contract with Brit Marling stating that the show cannot air on another platform such as 'Hulu' 'YouTube' etc. till 2025! Stay strong OA fans
