In response to the recent release of a fake news story about Pepsi Cola discontinuing it’s wildly popular Mountain Dew line of soft drinks, New York based PepsiCo announced late Thursday evening that it intends to build a bottling facility in Fair Play, South Carolina. SONIC news learned that PepsiCo has been trying to make inroads into Coca-Cola territory for quite some time, and Pepsi founder Caleb Bradham learned of the available land located within the Golden Corner Commerce Park on South Highway 59, while vacationing at a resort on Lake Hartwell. “We’re excited about the prospect of bottling Mountain Dew in the mountains of South Carolina, and expanding the economic possibilities of the gentle folk of Fair Play and Southern Oconee. Surveys and permitting are in the works, and construction is slated to begin in September. The company expects to initially invest $65 million US dollars in the complex, and employ upwards of 200 people in the beginning stages of the project. Watch for future updates in this exciting development.
