Andrew Eldritch, founder and singer of goth rock-conic band "The Sisters of Mercy“ stated on Wednesday that he is indeed part of the gothic subculture, which he so nonchalantly denied ever since the band‘s creation.
"I simply was suffering from imposter syndrome,“ he confessed in a Skype call to us this morning.
"These people are all about "goth points“ and gatekeeping. I only created one of their most iconic bands. Does that make me part of the deal? I dunno.“
Confirming that his solo project "Big Dreamy Goth BF“ will release several minimal albums on bandcamp and that he is already in negotiations for his own Killstar line, Eldritch seems pretty open and easygoing about his new/old identity.
"Just wear black and act like nothing phases you,“ he said, taking a deep drag from a clove cigarette, "but always be on the hunt for external validation. That will make you goth af.“
