Students attending Ayer Shirley Regional Middle School are devastated to be informed that their superintendent has decided to hold all of them back a grade. “It’s not because we don’t believe they’re smart,” says Mary Malone. “It’s only because we can’t let them continue to the higher grades when they haven’t learned a big part of their curriculum.” The eighth graders are taking this news very hardly. Teachers have complained about them lashing out in the comments of google classroom. Hopefully this extra year will help many students, despite their opinions on the subject.
