Zain yousaf, aged 19 has been found guilty of using false details to secure a job at Uber. The defendant had been reported to the police after a senior staff member at the Thornbury McDonald’s recognised him. Having worked there for a number of months, mr Yousaf had thought he’d been let off the hook. He was also reported to Uber and disciplinary action was taken.
Chief Constable of Great Horton, Mr Haaroon Hussain stated, “It is a great Result. Providing false details is a serious offence and this should be a lesson to others. The streets are now safer with mr Yousaf behind bars, only god knows what his intentions and motives were behind providing false details”.
The defence counsel in this case, mr Hasan Khan Mitigated that the defendant ‘was going through a difficult time. He has lost a number of jobs and had only used false details as a last resort. He was highly sincere and would not have done the same if it wasn’t for his circumstance”. He submitted that the defendant “was a highly motivated and determined young man who studied at the university of Bradford and had aspired to become a lawyer one day. The judge should take into account that this man has only acted the way he had due to his circumstances and this was a one off offence only. It would be unfair to impose a harsh sentence in spite of this”. Judge Rose sentence Mr yousaf to 1 year imprisonment at an earlier hearing.
