Haaroon Hussain of Allerton Bradford, was jailed for stealing ketchup bottles after targeting a number of takeaways on Great Horton road.

Mr Hussain was represented by defence solicitor Zain Yousaf who said, “my client is not right in the head. He goes crazy without ketchup and this was the sole reason for this offence. He has been diagnosed as mentally disturbed by a psychiatric and therefore diminished responsibility should be available to him”.

Setting out the prosecution case, Mr shazad Zaday said that Me Hussain entered the premises of shimlas, Mr T’s and my Lahore without purchasing anything. He headed straight up to the sauces before making off down the street. Cctv evidence was then played from outside Frame on, where the defendant was seen to be enjoying himself tucking in to a number of bottles. He is seen sniffing and gagging ketchup and making a complete mess. Judge Jamalay could not help but laugh at the sight.

Mr Hussain was sentenced to a permanent admission to a mental hospital. He was banned for a lifetime from having any contact with ketchup.
