The Toronto Maple Leafs decided to trade Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner because the management wanted a new dynamic duo to lead the way for the Leafs. Matthews and Marner were not happy with the GM’s decision on trading them but they still were both able to get the Alternate Captain Roll. The Maple Leafs received Center Sean Monahan and Left Winger Johnny Gadreau and 2 2nd round draft picks and 1 3rd round pick. The Leafs first line is Gadreau- Monahan-Nylander
