The SBTC sent out correspondence to its member churches reiterating that it will be cracking down on those churches that continue to break the PSM protocol (plays, skits, and musicals) that was released back in January.
SBTC executive director, Jim Richards said, “It has been brought to our attention that the music in certain plays, skits, and musicals are delivering a wrong and possibly hurtful message to not only our youth, but to our members. Some new manners of dancing and a throwback to tribalism in recreation can not be tolerated for Baptist youth. When we as churches stoop to such things as dancing and tribal rhythms, we are failing seriously in our duty.”
The PSM protocol, while it has been met with criticism by member churches, appears to be gaining steam. The correspondence encouraged churches to report and/or deny plays, skits, and musicals from the following list:
