The lurker
In 1978 a group of children who were exploring an abandoned house in the woods of VA said that they felt an uneasy feeling upon entering the house, shortly after, they started finding notes and told their parents they had a feeling of being watched, their parents brushed it off as just kids making up stories but in 1983 when the children went outside to play, they were never seen or heard from again, multiple cases like this have happened since then, one in 1985, 1992, 1997, 2001, etc.. some reports state that some of children were extremely paranoid before their disappearances, and state them talking about a figure that "lurks in the shadows", all of the cases have happened in George Washington and Jefferson National forests, the investigators are not sure whether this is a rare mental illness which cause the children to think they or being watched or followed by "something in the shadows", but they have named whatever is causing this "The lurker" due to the fact that the paranoia slowly gets worse up until the point that they disappear, investigators say they are not sure what the cause of the disappearances are but they heavily advise children not to be playing outside in the woods, especially not alone. *(all names or personal information has been redacted due to the requests of the families.)*
